The Work of Unity
1. Read Ephesians 4:1 together. What does it practically look like to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling.” If someone watched your life this week, what would make it clear that you belong to Jesus? Where does your “walk” feel aligned with your faith and where does it feel disconnected?
2. Why do you think unity mattered so much to Paul? Paul was writing from prison when he urged believers to live in unity. What does that tell us about how seriously we should take unity in the Church? How are you personally walking in unity in the church?
3. Read Ephesians 4:2, Paul highlights humility, gentleness, and patience. Which of these character traits is hardest for you and challenges you the most right now and why? What situations in your life tend to test that trait the most?
4. Read Proverbs 11:2. This passage connects pride with disgrace and humility with wisdom. Discuss the difference between pride and humility. What ways do you see pride usually take root and affect you the most throughout your 20’s? How does pride quietly damage unity in friendships, churches, workplaces, ect?
5. Read Matthew 11:29. In this passage Jesus describes Himself as gentle. How does this challenge the way our culture defines strength? What would it practically look like for you to show strength through gentleness in your day to day life?
6. Read Ephesians 4:4-6. Paul repeats the word “one” seven times in these verses. Which of the “one” statements in these verses stand out to you most and why? How would our friendships and church communities look different if we actually lived like those things were true?
7. Think about a recent conflict or frustrating moment that you’ve had. If you had taken the “Unity Pause” (breath, remember what you share, choose your response), how might things have gone differently? Where do you sense God inviting you to build unity intentionally this week?
